Overview

The history of Moumin Group of Companies (MGC) dates back to more than 20 years when its founder, Mr. Abdulrahman Abdullah Moumin, established the company in 1983 under the name of "Moumin Enterprises" and acquired an import license.

Over the years, Moumin Enterprises expanded its businesses, adding more products as and when needed. However, to streamline its operations and create synergies within the Group, the various companies were eventually merged into the flagship concern, Moumim Group of Companies (MGC). From this gradual development what has emerged is a pioneering and diversified group with prominent interests in virtually all areas of Somalia’s consumer trade. Therefore, the principal trading company, Moumin Group of Companies, coordinates the activities of its many subsidiaries.


Management

Moumin Group is a private limited company headed by Mr. Abdulrahman Abdullah Moumin, who is the Chairman and the Managing Director of the Group. A progressive and forward-looking person, it is in his vision to make the Group a public limited company in the future.

The company adheres to the philosophy of achieving growth through professional management and expansion in a phased and planned manner.


Human Resources

Central to the Group's continued growth and success is the belief that people are the cornerstone for all developments. For this, the company strives to develop and retain a strong and dedicated workforce.

Employees are encouraged to develop a sense of ownership of the company and its success. Moumin Group also conducts an in-house training for its staff.


Marketing

With in-house marketing specialists, Moumin Group of Companies has an extensive network of distribution in Somalia and other countries in the East Africa. Distributors and sub-distributors have been appointed throughout the region in order to better serve the market.

Currently Moumin Group is among the leading in terms of country coverage. Besides Somalia, Moumin Group actively operates in neighboring Kenya and Djibouti; and its subsidiary in Hargeisa caters to neighboring Ethiopia. Likewise, MG plans to extend its trade to other parts of Africa, mainly central and southern Africa regions.

The group's strategy has been to actively pursue both product and market diversification. To achieve this objective, the Group is constantly looking to explore new geographical markets and to market new varieties of products.


Technology

The Group employs modern technologies to maintain its operations at the leading edge. Custom-made softwares have been installed in the computer network and fast internet connectivity has been provided to all our offices to facilitate our operations.

Furthermore, www.moumin.com, which is the official web site of Moumin Group, has also been launched. It serves as a resource in supporting operations and providing information to business associates and customers. The web site's major purpose is to establish a professional presence on the Internet by sharing information with both clients and other business firms.
